Paralympian Walks after Miracle Crash

A silver medal winning Paralympic cyclist paralysed from the waist down at the age of 13 has at the age of 27 had a miracle cure after crashing her hand cycle.
Monique van der Vorst will no longer qualify for the 2012 Paralympics but is now training for a professional cycle team and hopes to take part in the 2016 Olympic Games after not riding a bike for more than 13 years.
Doctors were unable to offer an explanation as to why her spinal injury was reversed. Monique said after the miracle cure “Although walking is the best thing you could do in life, I immediately missed the sport, the people and the challenges.”
We look forward to watching her progress and wish her all the best in achieving her ultimate goal and a very unusual one of being both a Paralympic and able-bodied Olympic winner.
