Special Olympics was founded to bring the enjoyment and participation of sport to people with intellectual disabilities described by the UK Special Olympics organisation as “a person with certain limitations in cognitive functioning and other skills, including communication and self-care.”  Examples being autism, Down syndrome and varied learning disabilities and difficulties.

Special Olympics are held at anytime of the year and in all countries with a world games event taking place every two years.
